The #GrillandRead train makes another stop over at Abuja for #GrillandRead Reading Festival. Following a successful third outing in Lagos, the Abuja event will take place on Saturday, June 3rd 2017 at the 1st floor IBI Training Center, Discovery Mall, Wuse 2, Abuja.
As usual, lovers of books and reading will be treated to a day of fun and excitement featuring Meet the Authors, Poetry and Spoken Word, Art Exhibition, Talks and readings. Of course, there will be lots off the grill to chow on and chilled drinks to sip on. There will also be games, puzzles and other side attractions to keep the fun flowing. “We have decided to make this bigger,” says Abigail Anaba, convener of GrillandRead, “And we are very grateful to our sponsors Hedge and Pembrook who are making this possible.”

This year’s event is more child friendly and will feature presentations from students in both primary and secondary schools. “If we start encouraging younger children to read for pleasure, they will grow into reading adults and they will in turn birth reading children,” Abigail enthuses. #GrillandReadAbj2 is also being supported by Diction Avenue on Galaxy Television, Bagus Mutendi Literary Blog and Waka-About Online.
According to Abigail, #GrillandReadAbj2 will feature two authors. “We are having Edify Yakusak author of After They Left. I have read the book and I must say it is an amazing story about two kids who survived the horrors of violence in Jos Nigeria and their adventures as they get separated from their mother.
We will also be having Salim Hussaini. the 16 year old author of Bionic Evolution. This young man created an imaginary planet Avalon and situated an intriguing story there.” Both books are available for purchase from Twang bookstore and P.A.G.E Connoisseurs. Readers may wish to get copies in advance in other to engage with the authors.
The event will also feature poetry from publisher of Authorpedia and CEO of Words, Rhymes and Rhythm, Kukogho Iruesiri Samson and Spoken Word from performance poet, Deji Ige.

Tickets for the event are already being snapped up. “There are three bouquets available,” Abigail explains. “There is the group of 10 for N15,000 which is targeted at schools and book clubs, Family of 3 for N5,000 and the single for N2,000. All tickets are available on paystack.”
